Penitencya: A Sacrifice

Penitencya is part of the holy week and cultural tradition. Every year here in Arayat, during the last day of the "puni" (pabasa) Arayateños gather and have the longest salibatbat (Mandarame). One of my dreams is to feature these guys on my blog and this year I grabbed the opportunity to do it. So last Holy Wednesday (April 2, 2011) I joined my tito's together with their friends (Total= 31) in San Nicolas where they started. I was able to witness how they prepared for this long and painful sacrifice.

1.) Of course do not forget the guidance of our Lord.

2.) Men who will not carry cross will start to make their back numb to lessen the pain and to make the blood flow easily.

3.) When ready, it's time to get it wounded.

4.) Now they are ready to start. From San Nicolas- Mesulo- Cacutud- Plazang Luma- Riverside- Paralaya- Poblacion and lastly Looban.

They'll stop on every puni (pabasa) they passed and pray. Then they will continue walking until they reach the last pabasa.

Many chose to do this, others decided to stay in their homes and pray together with their family and some spent their holy weeks out of towns or out of the country. Some questioned others' decisions. There are some religious groups who are against this "Penitencya". According to many, the best thing that we need to do during holy week is to stay home and pray hard and not to enjoy the beaches and the sceneries of different places. Well, for me one of the greatest things we have is the freedom of choice. Somehow, I too agree with those who say not to go somewhere else aside from our home. I believe there's nothing else I can do with that than to respect others' decision so I, too will be respected.

FONTANA:D (The best is yet to come)

Last April 10-11 we spent a night in Fontana with the APTC. We considered it as the "despedida" of JRO, who will be competing in Palarong Pambansa on May 7-15 in Zamboanga (Taekwondo). Well, during our last year in elementary, he already bagged the gold medal in the said competition held in Palawan. So this year we'll be watching his fight live in Zamboanga. So let's pray for his victory! :)

Of course during our stay in there, I took some pictures that I'll be posting here. :) SO here are some:

We had a blast in there! Looking forward to our escapade in Zamboanga. :)

Let's play with the LIGHTS:)

Okay it's summer and we often experience boredom. So one night we decided to go and hang out in Marquee Mall (Ayala Malls). We just had our dinner and enjoyed how the lights dance with water. I guess this place is one of the most beautiful spots of MQ mall especially during night. Here are the photos:)
Hope you enjoyed them:)

Light and Shadow:)

Feels like insomnia ahahahaha..... I often experience this! :| aww. Good thing I have my Canon Eos 500D- my savior! Whenever I'm bored or having some difficulties in sleeping I take some pictures (some are awesome! some are crap:|). One night I decided to take pictures of some of my perfumes with their shadows. Of course I need some lights to achieve what I want with my collection. So here are some:

HEART WARMING!

Twas a normal day, same routine. While having our long test in chemistry my teacher called me and asked "Are you willing, and can you speak in front of hundreds of students?" My mind lightened like a flash bulb! ( I love speaking!) Yes I can, when and where? I asked. According to my teacher I will be one of the speakers in the recollection of the grade 6 students in Candaba, Pampanga and San Luis, Pampanga. ( Composing 10 public schools/ 5 each town)

I shared about my experiences when I was in their age and I gave them bird's eye view on what high school life looks like. ( I hope they learned a lot from me/us) I really enjoyed spending my days with them! Here are some of the photos:

The people there were very accommodating! :D After seeing all their comments on my page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Obra-ni-Pugo/173117799391200?sk=wall) I'm now more inspired to continue what I am doing. Thank you for the appreciation. :) Good luck and God bless us all. :)
